Amy Van Maris

Dance Teacher | Musical Theatre & Commercial

Bringing energy, creativity and performance to every class.

Amy has been performing since the age of three, and her love of the stage has taken her from training in the UK to performing and choreographing professionally overseas. With a natural flair for performance and a genuine love of working with young people, Amy brings energy, creativity and plenty of personality to every class.

Her passion for performance began early, developing into a particular love of Latin American dance. As a teenager, Amy had the opportunity to train under the legendary Len Goodman, an experience that helped shape her appreciation for musicality, performance and, above all, the joy of dancing.

Amy went on to study Musical Theatre at Reynolds Performing Arts, where she performed for West End producers in The Diary of Anne Frank. She later spent three years in Greece performing and choreographing musicals and entertainment shows, gaining valuable professional experience across a wide range of styles and performance settings.

With performance credits including Hair the Musical and Joseph, Amy brings genuine industry experience into the studio. Her classes are energetic, creative and full of character, encouraging dancers to step outside their comfort zones, find their individuality and enjoy expressing themselves through movement and performance.

Amy plays a key role in our non-syllabus subjects, including Commercial and Musical Theatre, where dancers can explore performance, storytelling and creativity without the focus being on examinations or competition.

She is also an important part of the wider DA community, creating opportunities for our dancers to perform beyond the studio through community events and the DA Ambassador Team. From carnivals and local celebrations to Christmas light switch-ons, Amy loves seeing dancers share their talents, experience the excitement of performing and feel part of something bigger.

For Amy, dance is about joy, expression and connection — helping young people find their confidence, discover their individuality and simply love being on the stage.
