Samantha Reed and her highly qualified team at Dancing Academy have been training dancers and teachers for over 10 years.
Dancing Academy has an excellent reputation for the quality and standards of its training. Dancing Academy teachers are all professionally trained to advanced levels. Teachers have attended some of the most renowned vocational dance colleges in the country such as The Royal Ballet School, London Studio Centre and Italia Conti and hold some of the highest teaching qualifications in the local area. Teachers have trained with the Royal Academy of Dance, The Imperial Society of Dance, Cecchetti Classical Ballet.

 

SAMANTHA REED: PRINCIPAL

ISTD DDE & RAD CBTS: RTS

Samantha’s love of dance began at the age of three when she attended her first ballet class and it quickly became apparent that she had a real love of dance and the theatre. At four Samantha also began tap and modern dance and soon knew that dancing would be her career.  At the age of sixteen after many years training with Lorna Timms Theatre Arts in Surrey Samantha auditioned successfully at the prestigious  London Studio Centre . There she was offered a place on their three year performer’s course.  Later on Samantha studied with the Royal Academy of Dance & ISTD on their teacher training course and is a qualified Royal Academy of Dance & Cecchetti Ballet Teacher. Samantha is currently continuing her Classical Ballet journey and is studying further with the ISTD on The Level 6 Diploma in Dance Pedagogy (DDP) teaching Classical Ballet Technique. Samantha hopes to complete the course next year and gain the highly esteemed Licentiate of the ISTD status as well as the Level 6 DDP.

RAGAN FAULKNER B.F.A. Dance    DANCE TEACHER & CHOREOGRAPHER   Originally from Illinois, U.S.A, Ragan Elizabeth Faulkner began her early training with Lisbeth Brown and under her direction she attained the Maestro Enrico Cecchetti Professional Diploma in the Cecchetti Method of Classical Ballet in 2014. She has danced the title roles of  Giselle  and  La Sylphide , the principal roles of Sugar Plum Fairy and Dew Drop Fairy in  The Nutcracker , and Marie Taglioni in  Pas de Quatre.  She has choreographed works for The State Street Dance Company and floor routines for Xcel-level gymnasts competing under USA Gymnastics. Her recent screen-dance,  ERSATZ , is currently touring through Bristol and Bath, U.K. before premiering in Bogotá, Columbia this May. Miss Faulkner is a Cecchetti Council of America Grade I certified teacher and will graduate with her M.A. in dance from Bath Spa University in September 2019.

Fran has gained all of her Cecchetti Ballet Exams up to Intermediate. Fran has been a Cecchetti Associate and won the Senior Wales & The West Award in 2014 taking her to London to dance in front of esteemed Cecchetti members on Cecchetti Day. Fran has a recurring role at Cecchetti Summer School for Young Dancers as a Volunteer Supervisor. In 2016, Fran joined the Cardiff University Dance Society, becoming a member of their Advanced Ballet Competition Team. Fran also teachers their improvers Ballet and Fitness Class.

AMY VAN MARIS     DANCE TEACHER   Amy van Maris has been performing since the age of 3 within the musical theatre industry and teaching since the age of 17. As a teenager she found a passion for Latin American dance and was trained by the one and only Len Goodman. After finishing her course she traveled abroad to Greece where she choreographed and performed in musicals and evening entertainment for 3 years.

ROSS CLIFTON    GUEST TEACHER   Ross trained for 3 years at the Wilkes Academy where he performed at Soccer Aid, Move IT, Iceland, Body Shop including Aladdin and Snow White with QDOS Pantos. Since Graduating he has recently just finished the UK Tour of Hairspray as the role of Brad cover Link Larkin. Alongside performing in Musical Theatre he has learnt off the choreographers for Greatest Showman, Spice girls and Liam Payne. In addition he was part of the NYMT company in the role of dance captain for 2 seasons in Prodigy (the Other Palace)and Brass (Hackney Empire). Also he has completed the role of lead singer for cruise lines such as FTI and Aida’s first ever world tour. Ross is passionate about our industry and looks forward to passing on his enthusiasm and knowledge to up and coming performers.  Ross provides open classes in Commercial, Musical Theatre, Singing and much more. Ross’s classes are open to students from both in and outside of Dancing Academy.

ROSS CLIFTON

LAURA KELMAN - ACROBATIC ARTS CERTIFIED    ACROBATICS TEACHER   Laura began gymnastics at the age of 4, and at age 6 was selected for the competition squad. Laura joined Swindon school of gymnastics squad and trained 6 days a week and competed for the South West in national competitions. Later Laura qualified as a general gymnastics coach and taught for several years across 4 of North Wiltshire's leisure centres. Laura is now also qualified with Acrobatics for Dance.

JODIE JOYCE    DANCE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR   Jodie helps run and manage the day to day activities of Dancing Academy such as organising exams, shows and events and managing the everyday schedules of the team. Jodie's previous experience in the corporate work environment brings strong organisation to Dancing Academy the team.

RACHEL BROWN    DANCE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR   After 10 years working from home and volunteering in schools whilst her children were young Rachel joins us as an addition to our admin team. Rachel focuses on enrolling new students and our general enquiries. Before having children Rachel worked as a Commercial Manager in the printing industry. She enjoys yoga to relax and is currently working towards her black belt in Taekwondo.

After 10 years working from home and volunteering in schools whilst her children were young Rachel joins us as an addition to our admin team. Rachel focuses on enrolling new students and our general enquiries. Before having children Rachel worked as a Commercial Manager in the printing industry. Darcie has a passion for all types of dance and would like to train professionally in performing arts after her teacher training and A-Levels. Darcie will be auditioning shortly while gaining as much experience as possible with Dancing Academy before attending professional training.

STUDIO ASSISTANTS   Dancing Academy is grateful to have a dedicated group of senior students and trainees that give up their time to assist around the studio. The students can be found helping with anything from hoovering to assisting in classes. Dancing Academy has a strong sense of community and friendship and many of our previous students also return to guest teach and help.
